TANAH JAMBU, THURSDAY, 30 APRIL 2026 – The Officer Cadet School (OCS) at Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), conducted its first leadership exercise, Tactical Command Tasks (TCT), for Officer Cadets (OCdts) of Intake 25 earlier today at DA RBAF compound, Tanah Jambu.
The exercise was organised to assess and develop the leadership potential of the Officer Cadets through a series of practical and physically demanding challenges. Throughout the activity, each section was deployed sequentially to complete 13 task stations under the supervision of platoon commanders, instructors, and Physical Training Instructors (PTIs). The stations evaluated the Officer Cadets’ ability to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during Weeks 1 to Week 13 of training, including signalling, weapon handling, communications, navigation, obstacle course, basic first aid and physical endurance.
Among the key challenges undertaken during the exercise were the safe extraction of simulated toxic waste from a designated minefield using ropes within a stipulated time, as well as the assembly of a stretcher to simulate the emergency casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) to transport a casualty across a specified distance and timeframe. At the end of the exercise, Platoon 3 Section 3 emerged as the overall champion, having attained the highest aggregate score while demonstrating exemplary leadership, teamwork, and esprit de corps throughout the exercise.
The TCTs were designed to expose Officer Cadets to unfamiliar and challenging situations requiring critical thinking, adaptability, and effective decision-making using limited resources. The exercise also served to strengthen their ability to function effectively as both leaders and followers under pressure, while laying a firm foundation for more advanced and demanding training phases in the future.
