SERIA, Tuesday, 15 September 2025 – 17 Midshipmen from the Officer Cadet School (OCS) Intake 24 have successfully completed their Basic Sea Survival Training at Megamas Training Company Sdn. Bhd.
The course, conducted as part of their Special-to-Service (STS) term, is a crucial component in preparing cadets to respond effectively to maritime emergencies. It combined theory and practical application, ensuring participants developed both knowledge and confidence in survival at sea.
Training covered the use of life jackets, navigation and communication in emergencies, survival techniques, and life-raft drills. Cadets learned how to deploy and operate safety rafts, as well as practice key rescue methods such as the survival circle and survival strip—techniques essential for conserving energy, maintaining cohesion, and increasing chances of rescue.
Practical sessions tested the Midshipmen’s endurance, adaptability, and teamwork under simulated emergency conditions. Working closely together, they strengthened their sense of trust, cooperation, and discipline—qualities fundamental to effective naval service.
By completing this training, the Midshipmen enhanced their preparedness and resilience in facing challenges at sea.
