PASSING-OFF PARADE MARKS THE END OF 6 WEEKS OF BASIC MILITARY TRAINING

TUESDAY, 10 March 2026 - The Passing-Off Parade marked the completion of the six-week Basic Military Training for the Probationary Officer Cadets (POCdts) of Intake 25. This six-week programme represents the militarisation phase, designed to enable the POCdts to develop self-management and successfully transition into the military lifestyle.

The programme aims to strengthen the POCdts’ leadership skills, self-discipline, and sense of responsibility. Delivered by officers and instructors from the Officer Cadet School (OCS), as well as personnel from external training institutions, the training provided the POCdts with a solid foundation in basic military competencies.
Throughout the six weeks, the POCdts successfully completed a series of core training components, including the Cadet Personal Fitness Assessment (CPFA), Weapon Handling Test, Basic First Aid, Signals training, Map Reading, and Drill. To conclude the training phase, the POCdts underwent the Passing-Off Parade Assessment, which comprised three phases: Uniform Inspection, Section Squad Drill led by the respective Section Instructors, and Personal Drill Inspection.
At the end of the programme, 3 Platoon 3 Section was announced as the Best Section in recognition of their outstanding performance in the Section Squad Drill. The assessment aims to foster strong teamwork, discipline, and cohesion within each section, while also developing the POCdts’ confidence and leadership abilities, particularly in delivering commands during Personal Drill.
Having successfully completed this initial phase, the POCdts will now continue their training as they progress through the 48-week commissioning course, which will further develop them into capable, resilient, and professional future officers.
