EXERCISE FIRST STRIKE COMPLETED BY OCS INTAKE 24

TUTONG, Tuesday, 2 June 2025 – Officer Cadets (OCdts) of Intake 24 successfully conducted Exercise First Strike at Pasir Putih, Tutong. The exercise was held over four days and three nights where it simulated a mission to patrol and defend Bruneian territory against a fictional foreign threat.

Prior to the field deployment, OCdts underwent comprehensive classroom and practical lessons at Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS DA RBAF), delivered by their instructors. These sessions introduced the principles, procedures, and tactical considerations of a Section Battle Drill. On the first day of deployment, OCdts observed a live tactical demonstration conducted by personnel from the Royal Gurkha Rifles, providing them with a practical reference for Section Battle Drill formations and manoeuvres prior to the commencement of their own missions. The session also served as a valuable platform for OCdts to engage directly with the Gurkha personnel, gaining deeper insight through discussion and observation.

Exercise First Strike provided OCdts with an opportunity to apply their knowledge in a realistic and challenging environment. They were assessed on their leadership, tactical awareness, and ability to command their respective sections through simulated engagements. The exercise also strengthened their fieldcraft skills, such as jungle harbouring, routine management, and task execution under pressure. Overall, the experience marked an important step in developing the OCdts’ confidence, competence, and readiness for leadership roles within the RBAF.
