EXERCISE GROUND CONTROL FOR OFFICER CADET OF INTAKE 23

TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 2 August 2024 – The Officer Cadets (OCdts) of Intake 23 have just concluded their Ground Control Exercise at the FIBUA Village in Penanjong Garrison. This immersive, 7-days training event featured dynamic confrontation scenarios centered around engaging with the simulated civilians. Before diving into the hands-on exercise, the OCdts were prepped with in-depth theoretical lessons delivered by specialists from the Chemical Biological Radiological Explosive Defense Unit (CBRE) and the Combat Engineering Squadron (CES) of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF). They also gained insights from the Judge Advocate General Office (JAG) on Operational Law, and the Military Police (MP). Apart from that, live demonstrations and practical training was also provided by the instructors from Officer Cadet School (OCS).

The Ground Control Exercise was designed to push the OCdts to their limits, offering them a rich blend of tactical training and real-world scenarios. They engaged in crowd control practices, where they learned ways to investigate and identify potential threats based on character descriptions through various analyses, as well as how to execute anti-riot operations. This hands-on experience not only sharpened their practical skills for urban combat, but also tested their ability to act swiftly and sensibly under pressure.

The exercise challenged the OCdts to utilize their resources effectively, exhibit mental toughness while maintaining a high morale. They tackled various stability operations, including Key Point Guard (KPG), Vehicle Check Points (VCP), building clearance, anti-riot routines, and patrols. This demanding experience was a true test of their leadership, confidence, and readiness to handle time-sensitive situations with decisiveness and clarity.
