MUARA, TUESDAY, 12th November 2024 - A total of 17 Midshipmen from the Officer Cadet School (OCS) of Intake 23 completed navigation practical training at Naval Training Centre (NTC) of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). This training took place in the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) and included familiarization with the RBN asset KDB Mustaed. This comprehensive training is designed to prepare Midshipmen for their future careers in the Naval Forces, ensuring they acquire the essential skills, experience, and knowledge required for effective maritime operations.
The simulation commenced with practical lessons focused on fundamental navigation principles and practices. These sessions were meticulously structured to provide the Midshipmen with a thorough understanding of the challenges they may face in their naval duties. The primary objective is to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to fully comprehend their maritime responsibilities.
Throughout the course, particular emphasis was placed on understanding critical areas such as navigation and the systems and functions of a naval vessel. The Midshipmen had opportunities to apply their classroom learning through practical exercises, including mastering chart fixing and refining their skills in taking specific bearings while navigating at sea. This hands-on experience not only enhances their understanding of the material but also fosters confidence and prepares them to execute tasks on board effectively.
As they complete this final phase of their training, the Midshipmen are now better prepared to begin their naval careers, equipped with the essential skills to navigate the complexities of maritime operations and serve their country with distinction. The RBN is committed to investing in the development of its future leaders, ensuring they are ready to meet the challenges of a dynamic maritime environment.
