OFFICER CADET MUHAMMAD AFIQ HASIF BIN ABD SALAM COMPLETED SINGAPORE ARMED FORCES TRAINING INSTITUTE (SAFTI)

SINGAPORE, Saturday, 7 September 2024 – 55072 Officer Cadet (OCdt) Muhammad Afiq Hasif Bin Abd Salam, from Intake 22 of Officer Cadet School (OCS) has been officially commissioned at the Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI) on 7th September 2024. The commissioning ceremony took place at Parade Square SAFTI Military Institute, marking the culmination of months of rigorous training and dedication. 


OCdt Afiq Hasif was nominated for the SAFTI Officer Cadet program on 26th August 2023. Following his nomination, he embarked on an intense training regimen that officially started on 13th February 2023. On 27th November 2023, he underwent a 2-week Heat Acclimatization Physical Training (HAPT) to prepare him for the physical demands of the program. SAFTI Officer Cadet School (OCS) course officially commenced on 11th December 2023. Throughout these months, OCdt Hasif engaged in a comprehensive military training program designed to hone his leadership skills, physical endurance, and tactical abilities. The training was both mentally and physically demanding, preparing him to take on the responsibilities of an officer in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.


In addition to his rigorous training, OCdt Afiq Hasif successfully completed the challenging nine-day Jungle Confidence Course (JCC), where he mastered essential skills such as navigation, survival techniques, and overcoming obstacles. This included building shelters, traps, and spears. He also earned the prestigious Combat Skill Badge by completing water obstacle crossings and demonstrating resilience and combat fitness, including tests on weapon systems. As part of his development, OCdt Afiq Hasif participated in the Platoon Assault Course (PAC), where he took part in a live tactical exercise that tested his teamwork and operational skills, culminating in a flag presentation. Furthermore, his exemplary performance in drill maneuvers led his platoon to victory in the Drill competition, further demonstrating his discipline and leadership.


This accomplishment highlights not only his personal dedication but also the rigorous standards and professionalism upheld by the Officer Cadet School. The ceremony at SAFTI Military Institute is a testament to the strong and enduring ties between Brunei and Republic of Singapore, reflecting the ongoing collaboration and shared commitment to developing military leaders who will contribute to the security and stability of both nations.
