BASIC JUNGLE SURVIVAL SKILLS TRAINING COMPLETED BY OCS INTAKE 24

​​TANAH JAMBU, Sunday, 11 May 2025 – Officer Cadets (OCdts) from Intake 24 conducted a Jungle Survival lesson at the Jungle Training Area, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (JTA DA RBAF). This session aimed to build essential survival knowledge and practical skills in preparation for operating under limited-resource conditions.

The lesson combined both theoretical and followed by practicals. OCdts were taught how to survive in the jungle with little to no equipment, covering topics such as constructing shelters for 1-day, 3-day, and 7-day scenarios; identifying edible and poisonous plants; fire-making techniques; water sourcing methods including water traps; and the basic use of survival equipment.

The OCdts also participated in practical demonstrations, including an exposure to the proper procedures for slaughtering and preparing chickens in accordance with Islamic guidelines, conducted by a representative from the RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT). These exercises were designed to enhance adaptability, resourcefulness, and self-sufficiency in a jungle environment.

By undergoing this survival training, OCdts gained fundamental skills required to endure harsh terrain paving the way to becoming confident, capable, and resilient officers of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
