MIDSHIPMEN OF INTAKE 23 FROM OFFICER CADET SCHOOL TAKE PART IN BASIC SEA SURVIVAL TRAINING


SERIA, Tuesday, 10 September 2024 A total of 17 Midshipmen of Officer Cadet School (OCS) Intake 23 have completed their Basic Sea Survival Training at Megamas Training Company Sdn Bhd. This Course To Training is to embark them on their career in the Naval Force which is an aspiration marked by dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to service. For the Midshipmen, the journey begins with a series of rigorous training programs designed to prepare them for the demanding and often unpredictable nature of naval operation. The objective of this Course To Training is to develop their knowledge and skills where it plays a key part of their maritime training, aimed at equipping them with crucial life-saving skills for maritime emergencies. 


During the training, the Midshipmen’s Special-to-Service (STS) term practiced essential skills such as properly donning life jackets, navigation and communication, survival techniques and a life-raft usage. Additionally, they have the chance to enjoy and put their knowledge into practice outside of the classroom, such as by learning rescue techniques like the survival circle, survival strip, and life-raft survival. The hands-on experience helps build their confidence, team-building and prepares them to handle emergencies at sea effectively. 


These skills are a crucial part of their growth to become competent naval officers which is essential for them to ensure that they can manage emergencies effectively and maintain safety in challenging maritime situations. As a result, these experiences introduced the midshipmen to various potential situations they might encounter when they are on patrol.
