TANAH JAMBU, Defence Academy, Friday, 29 December 2023 - Officer Cadets of Intake 22 had a Leadership Talk session in the morning at the Lecture Theatre, Officer Cadet School Headquarters, Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS HQ DA RBAF). The Leadership talk was delivered by Warrant Officer 1 Haji Rudy Eyan Radziddillah bin Hj Bidin, the Academy Sergeant Major (ASM) of OCS DA RBAF. 

The session began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a brief introduction about the ASM and the journeys he had experienced throughout his 28 years of service as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). During the session, ASM shared his principles in leadership, emphasizing on the importance of influence as a crucial traits to have as a leader in the RBAF. The Officer Cadets were introduced to strategies and ideas on overcoming challenges as a leader whereby initiatives, connections, and relationships built between and within their men is vital. 

Some of the focus delivered by the ASM was about being a leader who leads by example, always having the urge and eagerness to learn more to increase the leader’s knowledge. It was reminded to the Officer Cadets of Intake 22 to be a “Jack of All Trades, Master of None.” The session delivered was very helpful to the Officer Cadets on the application of leadership once they commissioned for their first appointment. 

It was concluded with a discussion between the ASM and reminded the Officer Cadets the importance of influence as a leader.
