BRUNEI, Saturday, 21 November 2020 – This year’s SAFTI International Cadets’ Conference (SICC) convened virtually, from 19 to 20 November 2020. The conference, with a theme of “COVID 19 Challenges and Opportunities for The Future”, was participated by international cadets and instructors from 18 nations; Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, the UK, the US and Vietnam. Representing Officer Cadet School from Brunei Darussalam were 53544 OCdt Muhammad Akmal Amali bin Haji Rusli and 53535 OCdt Mohammad Zulfahmi Solihin bin Hj Zulhazmi.During the video conference, cadets discussed how COVID 19 presented challenges to military organization in terms of training and leadership. The discussion highlighted different ways COVID 19 changed training programs and how it prompted tough decision making by leaders in handling the situation. The other main objective for the conference, besides sharing thoughts on various themes, is also to establish diplomatic ties amongst future leaders in the military forces around the world.
The conference was an open door for cadets from every single Armed Force to reinforce multilateral ties and create themselves simultaneously despite the pandemic.
