DEFENCE ACADEMY, Saturday, 10 August  2019 – The Officer Cadets of Intake 18 were scheduled to experience their third and final adventurous sports training. This week,  all three Platoons of the intake went to their designated locations based on  a rotate basis. 

Twenty-seven Officer Cadets of 1 Platoon went to Saddle Club at Berakas Garrison to experience horse riding activity. Just like previous batches, this time the platoon get to be exposed on how to manage and groom a horse. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by the manager, WO1 (U) Pg Anak Ahmad Rapae and straight away they were given  safety brief especially on how to approach a horse. Once everything is covered, all of the officer cadets in 1 Platoon take turns riding the horses available at the ranch. They spent their time there at the Saddle Club from morning up until 1400hr.
 
2 Platoon, with a strength of twenty-seven officer cadets, this time went for Archery held within Defencey Academy, Tanah Jambu, specifically on an open area near the headquarter. The activity is organized and taught by instructors from Ar Rafi Archery, Brunei. Just before 2 Platoon get to shoot arrows, they were given basic safety procedures, how to handle the equipments, its techniques and as well as the history of the organization. They started off at 1400hr and finishes just before 1800hr.
 
Last but not least, 3 Platoon get to enjoyed Kayaking at Serasa RBAF Watermanship Centre. Twenty-four cadets left the Defence Academy at 0730hr and upon arrival they were welcomed by PT instructors. Before the officer cadets started their activities of the day, the instructors gave them basic lessons on how to properly handle a kayak and its techniques. At first they get to kayak freely within the range given and just before the instructors called it a day, a relay race was set between sections and 3 section won. Once everything has been cleared up and put to place, 3 Platoon left the premises with new memory to live by and head back to OCS about 1300hr.
 
Since the beginning of this programme up until this week, all platoons of Intake 18 had their fair share of exposure to all three adventurous sports training namely archery, kayak and horse riding. The officer cadets are nothing but grateful to be given these kind of outdoor activities and especially at the early stage of their career as soon-to-be officers in the RBAF. Though it is considered to be a leisure moment for them but it is also meant to be a lesson learned so that they continue to venture their potential and to be more competent in any sports organized by RBAF once they commissioned.
