Brunei, 21 November 2021 – The SAFTI International Cadets’ Conference (SICC) this year was virtually held with the theme “Timeless leaders: Harnessing Disruptions from the Past Two Decades”. The highly anticipated annual conference was participated by 18 nations; Australia, Cambodia, Brunei, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, the USA, the UK and Vietnam. Representing Officer Cadet School from Brunei Darussalam were 22118 OCdt Siti Salihah binti Haji Aji, 22132 MID Nurul Majidah binti Zakaria and 22138 OCdt (U) Dk Rabiatuladawiyah binti Pg Radzuan.During the conference, cadets were able to discuss three different sub-topics related to the theme, which were disruptive technology, disruptive environment and disruptive engagement. Among the key discussion takeaways include the implications of past and present disruptions upon the military training and operations as well as the varying approaches undertaken by respective countries in dealing with the challenges in the past 20 years. The acquisition of essential leadership traits for ensuring the success of a military organization in times of uncertainty was highlighted in the discussion of every sub-topic which include adaptability, humility and empathy.
Nonetheless, the most important objective of the annual conference was to forge friendly ties among the participants and enhance military relations multilaterally and bilaterally in spite of the unforeseen circumstance of the global pandemic.
