THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, Monday, 17 October 2022 – 14 midshipmen of Intake 21 Officer Cadet School Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS DA RBAF) had the opportunity to visit the Changi Naval Base (CNB), Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). Also present was officer and instructors of OCS DA RBAF.
Upon arrival at the CNB, the delegation was welcomed by MAJ Soon Kim Choon, the Course Commander (CC) of 96th MIDS/30th MDEC1, Officer Cadet School SAFTI Military Institute (OCS SAFTI MI), Republic of Singapore. The visit commenced with a tour at the Full Mission Ship Simulator (FMSS) where bridge watch-keeping was demonstrated by the OCS SAFTI MI midshipmen. The OCS DA RBAF midshipmen also had hands-on experience on utilizing the bridge equipment which includes radar and gyrocompass.
The second part of the visit was a tour at the Damage Control Training Center (DCTC) where the Damage Control Trainer is located. Built as a ship replica, it is a multi-storeyed, shore-based trainer consisting of a static and motion trainer designed to address training challenges as well as simulate rocking movement in rough seas.
Lastly, video presentation of their Midshipmen Sea Training Deployment (MSTD) was shown before concluding with sharing session and group photo.
