TANAH JAMBU, Defence Academy, Thursday 18 June 2020 - Today marks a new milestone for Intake 19 Officer Cadet School (OCS) as the End of Generic Term Parade took place at the Defence Academy Parade Square, Tanah Jambu. The objective of the Parade was to mark the completion of the Generic Term.The Parade was divided into 3 contingents and was led by the Parade Commander, 1089 Lt JG Hj Mohd Syahmi Fakhurullah bin Hj Mohd Is’srah, RBN. The Parade commenced with the arrival of the Guest of Honour (GOH). the Commanding Officer (CO) of OCS, 632 LTC Amirul Adly bin Hj Ali. The GOH was welcomed by the Intake Commander, 823 Maj (U) Awg Md Yusra bin Jafar which was then followed by the inspection of the Parade by the GOH before the Parade took motion. Also present were OCS Second-in-Command, 657 Maj (U) Pg Muhd Farisan bin Pg Hj Metassan, OCS officers and the training team.
This year’s End of Generic Term Parade was conducted differently due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The format of the Parade this year was a static parade where physical distancing of 2 meters apart were practiced for the Parade. The sequence of the Parade included Parade Inspection by the GOH, recitation of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Core Values by the Officer Cadets (OCdts), speech delivery by the GOH, three Takbir claims of Allahu Akhbar and recitation of Do’a to end and bless the Parade.
During the Parade, the GOH delivered his speech where he congratulated all the OCdts for successfully completing the 20 weeks Generic Term; however, he highlighted that this is only halfway through the training course. Even though our training momentum has been affected by the outbreak of the pandemic this year, OCS still continue to do its training in line with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health. Therefore, all OCdts must continue to focus on the training, while bearing in mind to stay cautious with the restrictions that is imposed in order to prevent from being infected by the COVID-19 virus.
The Generic Term had covered a holistic and wide range of basic, tactical and intensive lessons where OCdts were exposed to numerous military exercises and trainings. OCdts were also required to complete Islamic religious knowledge lessons to ensure that OCS will produce well-rounded officers that will own virtuous leadership traits who are also knowledgeable and literate in the matter of religion. The Generic term had also focused on developing intellectual capacities and the characters that the RBAF Officers should possess. This is to prepare OCdts for their upcoming Special To Service (STS) Term where they will be sent to undergo trainings in their respective units, namely the Royal Brunei Land Force, the Royal Brunei Navy and the Royal Brunei Air Force for another 25 weeks before going into the final term of the course.
The End of Generic Term Parade concluded with a march pass led by the Parade Commander and with him, Contingent Commanders; 1 Platoon led by 53559 OCdt (U) Muhammad Dzulfadhli bin Bahrin, 2 Platoon led by 53533 OCdt Mohammad Fadzli bin Hussin and 3 Platoon led by 22085 OCdt Nurbazilah binti Haji Jamaludin with 53535 OCdt Mohammad Zulfahmi Solihin bin Haji Zulhazmi as the Parade’s Cadet Sergeant Major.
