TANAH JAMBU, Tuesday, 21 January 2020 – In conjunction with the Sovereign’s Parade of Officer Cadets Intake 18, a Khatam Al-Quran was held at Surau Asy-Syuhada, Defence Academy, Tanah Jambu Camp for the 73 graduating Officer Cadets. The highlight of the ceremony was a mass reading of the final verses of the Al-Quran, Dzikir Marhaban, Takhtim, Doa Selamat and prayers.Present as the guest of honour at the ceremony was Colonel Haji Mohammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, the Commandant of the Defence Academy. Also attending were officers, staffs and instructors from Defence Academy, RBAF and Officer Cadet School.
The event started with the recital of Al-Fatihah followed by a mass recitation of Surah-surah from the Al-Qur’an by the Officer Cadets. To further bless the ceremony, Doa Selamat was recited followed by mass Isya’ prayers.
The occasion featured the significance of reading and understanding the Al-Quran as a guide for Officer Cadets, which enables them to lead their men the correct way as per the guidelines outline in the Holy book. The importance of reciting the Al-Quran as a habit is strongly emphasized, not only while the Officer Cadets are in training, it is more significant after they leave the school. It will be a constant reminder of the obligations and duties entrusted upon them.
The mission of the Officer Cadet School is to develop the qualities of leadership, character and intellect in the Officer Cadets, the future leaders of the RBAF. Essential to building up these characteristics is the firm good base that our Islamic convictions give us.
