TANAH JAMBU, Defence Academy, Saturday, 21 November 2020 – Officer Cadets of Intake 19 attended a workshop on Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB) today, held at the Lecture Theatre, OCS HQ.
The class was presented by Pg Dr. Khairul Rijal Bin Pg Hj Abdul Rahim, Assistant Professor at the Academy of Brunei Studies, University of Brunei Darussalam. The aim of the class is to emphasise spiritual development focusing on the concept of MIB. The lecturer also emphasised on the history and challenges faced with the concept. Although MIB as a concept in Brunei was declared on 1st January 1984, it has been implemented ever since the first Sultan of Brunei converted to Islam more than 600 years ago.
After the morning session, the Officer Cadets were divided according to platoons for a discussion on the importance of incorporating MIB into the daily lives of RBAF personnel and presented the outcomes to the intake in the afternoon, followed by a lively question-and-answer session with the instructors. The workshop then concluded with a group photo session.
