TANAH JAMBU, Saturday, 18 May 2019 – With the blessings of the holy month of Ramadan, Officer cadets of Intake 18 successfully held a Nasyid competition. Nasyid is a singing performance in which the songs are of religious ones. The competition was held at the Mess Hall 1 of the Officer Mess building, started at 1400H and finished at 1530H. The competition was between groups of 6 with 2 groups for every platoon and the grouping was not restricted by sections.

 
For Platoon 1, the groups are Al-Fatih and Khalid Al-Walid. For Group 2, the groups are Umar Abdul Aziz and Abu Bakar As-Siddiq. For Platoon 3, the groups are namely Al-Faizin and Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi.
 
The Guest of Honour was Captain (U) Mohammad Yusra bin Haji Awang Jaafar, Acting IC of intake 18 and his arrival was expected at 1415H. The judges of the event were Imam Khairul, Sgt Yusry and Staff Shahrul. Also, the other guests that made it to the competition were WO2 Siti Aishah, SSgt Syazwan and Sgt Hj Sahepol. With the arrival of the GOH, the competition commenced with the recital of prayers done by 53207 OCdt Fakrul Amirin bin Ismail.
 
The competing groups were to deliver an excellent performance by considering the criteria that are to be judged. The criteria are voice projection, orderliness, discipline and creativity. First, the voice projection needs to be loud, clear and with a beautifully projected melody. Second, the orderliness of the performances should be perfectly synchronized and also every cadet should be evenly spaced accordingly. Third, the disciplinary aspects of the performance are judged in terms of their clothing. Lastly, the creativity on how the performance is carried out which could include acting, movements, props and also singing.
 
First place of the Nasyid competition was won by Al-Fatih of Platoon 2 which was led by 53215 OCdt Muhammad Hafiz bin Hj Hasnan. They managed to score a total mark of 78%. Truly an expected victory, as their performance filled up the criteria sought perfectly. The second place was followed up by Al-Fatih of Platoon 1 with a total score of 76%. The group was led by 53250 OCdt Fadyl Bahrin bin Haji Ellmi.
 
The event continued after the competition with the handing out of gifts to the judges and also the prized gift to the winning teams. It was then closed with recital of prayers. With that the event was simply done. Done in a way that it is not just satisfactory but admirable. Since the very beginning of the event, the officer cadets of Intake 18 were well disciplined, organized and also truly experiencing the religious songs at heart. With the blessings of Ramadan, may all the officer cadets of Intake 18 are blessed at all times.
