MUARA COMMERCIAL PORT, Saturday 28th September 2019 – Another memorable day for 21 midshipmen of Intake 18 as they get to visit the The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy training ship Qi Jiguang (Hull 83) that just arrived yesterday, 27th September 2019 for a four-day goodwill visit. Upon boarding, the midshipmen along with the officer in charge 929 Lt Shahrul Idham of Royal Navy Brunei, were escorted to its lecture room where they were welcomed and shown a short video on the history of the ship. Once the video ended, an exchange session began between the midshipmen of intake 18 and Chinese naval cadets.During the session, not only midshipmen get to share the culture of Brunei and the training they had so far, but also learned few vital informations about the ship as well as the cadets itself. There are 517 sailors and cadets that are serving on 7 different Naval institutes. Brunei is their first pit stop before heading to other few Asia-Pacific countries such as East Timor, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Fiji. Their deployment is part of their final year training before they commissioned to be an officer in the PLA Army and the mission lasted for two months.
