FIBUA Village Penanjong Garrison, Tuesday 14 December 2021 – Acting Commandant Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Lieutenant Colonel (U) Azmie Iskandar bin Ariffin has conducted a site visit to FIBUA Village, Penanjong Garrison in conjunction with the conduct of EXERCISE Ground Control (a 4-day exercise from 11 December 2021 to 14 December 2021).
This is the last field exercise for Intake 20 Officer Cadets School DA RBAF which consist of 83 Officer Cadets (OCdts) and supporting elements from the Second Battalion Royal Brunei Land Force Unit.
During the visit, the Acting Commandant was briefed on the series of activities conducted by the OCdts in how to deal with civilians in order to give reassurance to an unsettled population. He then proceeded to have walk through the FIBUA Village to physically witness the methods employed by the OCdts roleplaying as the civilian population. Finally, he witnessed the execution of Anti-Riot efforts, at Platoon level strength, to disperse rioters safely.
Exercise Ground Control has given the opportunity for the OCdts to gain basic knowledge and tactics of Stabilisation Operations and has, more generally, developed their potential to be competent and confident young officers that are capable of delivering decisive action and sensible decision in the right command and control framework.
