DEFENCE ACADEMY, Sunday, 14 July 2019 - It was a bright and clear day for the Officer Cadets of OCS Intake 18. As scheduled for the final day of week 23 of the training program, they had the opportunity to be exposed to and learn an advanced obstacle course named High Rope which was situated at a hill top near the MT Line of Defence Academy. It consists a total of 16 obstacles of which, only four obstacles were introduced to them solely for the preparation of the Commandant’s Challenge. This will be the first time it was reopened for Officer Cadets as the High Rope was last used by Intake 14 in 2016. There is only one advanced obstacle course in RBAF and the Defence Academy is the only one that has it. The Officer Cadets of Intake 18 was privileged to be able to have this chance to experience it. For the day’s program, the Intake 18 were only exposed to four obstacles namely Traverse Jump, Abseil, Uneven Climb and Flying Fox. The PTIs guided the Officer Cadets throughout the training and emphasised on the importance of safety and the main rule was to be in complete personal protection equipment which are helmet, harness and gloves at all times whenever entering the High Rope area or zone.
