REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, Friday, 30 September 2022 - A contingent of 65 Officer Cadets and 20 Officers and staff from Officer Cadet School Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS DA RBAF) departed for Republic of Singapore today for Urban Operation Training Package (UOTP) scheduled from 30 September 2022 to 21 October 2022 with the Officer Cadet School Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute Military Institute (OCS SAFTI MI). The contingent is led by Lt Cdr Muhd Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, RBN, Intake Commander of OCS Intake 21. This marks another milestone for OCS as this is the first UOTP which will be participated by the Tri-Services (Land, Navy and Air Force) Officer Cadets of OCS DA RBAF.

Prior to their deployment to Air Management Centre (AMC), Rimba Air Force Base, the Officer Cadets were given the opportunity to have some time with their family followed by recitation of Doa Selamat at the Lecture Theatre, OCS DA RBAF.

Present as the Guest of Honour (GOH) at the delegation send-off in Air Management Centre (AMC), Rimba Air Force Base, was Lieutenant Colonel (U) Peter bin Ulat @ Yulat, Chief Instructor, DA RBAF. Also in attendance were Lieutenant Colonel Pg Siti Khatamalzariah binti Pg Haji Kamaludin, the Commanding Officer of OCS DA RBAF, Officers and School Sergeant Major of OCS DA RBAF. The GOH, in his remarks stated that with this training program being the milestone of OCS, the Officer Cadets were reminded to perform with excellence while still maintaining the highest standard of discipline. They were also reminded to utilise this opportunity to network and learn from their counterparts as they will be working together during their career in the RBAF.

UOTP is organised by OCS SAFTI MI Republic of Singapore in order for the Officer Cadets to experience Fighting in Built Up Areas (FIBUA). One of the objectives of UOTP is to attain proficiency up to platoon level Urban Ops competencies in the context of a rifle company. In addition, it also offers an opportunity for the attendees to allow professional exchange at Officer Cadet level for personal interaction and relationship building in order to create the conditions for repeated bilateral exchanges and maintain a line of communication from Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Singapore. The international interaction between OCS and SAFTI will be executed in 3 phases throughout the 3 weeks training. It is expected that during this training, the Officer Cadets will enrich their experiential learning and become competent at all levels of leadership with the intent to apply their leadership skills back in their home country. Moreover, through such an exchange of views, they would continue to cooperate with each other and encourage stronger ties between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore.
