TANAH JAMBU, Thursday 30th January 2020 – The Officiating ceremony for Officer Cadet School for Intake 19 was held today at the Auditorium of Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kampung Tanah Jambu. Present to officiate the ceremony of the course was the Commandant of the DA RBAF, Colonel Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan.
The Officiating ceremony was followed by oath and signing of BAF 122 led by the instructor from OCS DA RBAF. This year intake 19 consists of 80 candidates (52 male and 28 female) whom will be under probation throughout the six weeks of initial basic military training as Probationary Officer Cadet, before they officially commissioned as Officer Cadet of intake 19. The appointment ceremony will be officiated by the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces at the end of the six week.
The commissioning course is a 52 weeks course split into three terms, Generic term, Special to Service term and Final term. The course will focused on Military Leadership and Management, Military Knowledge, Military Skills and attitude apart from developing their physical and mental strength. In addition, spiritual development focusing on the concept of Melayu Islam Beraja will also be emphasized. This was highlighted in the Commandant’s opening address where he also emphasized that the Officer Cadet Course is a physically and mentally demanding course that requires full commitment from all trainees and the support of parents or guardians. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commandant of Defence Academy RBAF, Defence Academy Officers and instructors as well as the Probationary Officer Cadets parents and guardians.
