DEFENCE ACADEMY, TANAH JAMBU, 25 May 2022 – Leadership Exercise is one of the leadership assessments in Officer Cadet School. The objective of the exercise is to assess officer cadets’ capability in leading a group of people by providing them a particular scenario to solve in a designated obstacle. The first leadership exercise for the Officer Cadets of Intake 21 was conducted earlier this morning around the Defence Academy compound which covered 5 kilometers. A total of 10 obstacles through different routes were organised by Officer Cadet School. The exercise began by deploying each section of every platoon and assisted by one instructor or platoon commander, physical instructors and medical team.
In the leadership exercise, the officer cadet’s ability to lead and command and control are being assessed by the instructors. One of the obstacles used were ‘Mental Notes’ in which the officer cadet is required to observe any discarded military items hidden on the ground or on the bushes. The exercise was concluded with ‘Log Race Competition’ for 2 kilometers where every section had to move and hustle to the finishing line in order to win. 2 platoon section 3 won the competition with the highest point and less penalty.
