On the second day, the training delved deeper into Chemical, Biological, and Radiological (CBRE) warfare agents. The Land Force OCdts were briefed on the characteristics and dangers of Chemical Warfare Agents (CWE), Biological Warfare Agents (BWE), and radiation threats. This was followed by a hands-on practical session, where the Land Force OCdts entered a gas chamber filled with Ortho Chlorobenzylidene-malonitrile (CS), commonly known as tear gas. In the gas chamber, they were tested on their ability to endure the effects of the gas both with and without the protection of a gas mask. This experience allowed them to apply what they had learned in a controlled yet challenging environment, testing their physical and mental resilience.
To conclude, the two-day CBRE training was a valuable experience for the Land Force OCdts, as it not only enhanced their theoretical understanding of hazardous substances but also provided practical exposure to real-life scenarios. By enduring the tear gas chamber test, the Land Force OCdts gained firsthand experience in managing the risks posed by chemical agents, reinforcing the importance of proper equipment and safety measures. This training further prepared them for their future roles as leaders, ensuring they are capable of protecting themselves and their subordinates in potential CBRE operations.
