SINGAPORE, Thursday, 17 October 2024 – Exercise Coyote II and III united Officer Cadets (OCdts) from the Officer Cadet School, Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS DA RBAF) and Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute Military Institute (SAFTI MI) for a four-day joint Urban Operations exercise. Held at Neo Tiew BUA and Sarimbun EBUA in Singapore. The exercise focused on honing essential combat skills required for operations in complex urban environments and the OCdts undertook various scenarios that tested their ability to maneuver through urban terrain, execute building clearance, and coordinate tactical operations within the confined and fast-paced nature of urban warfare.
This joint exercise helped strengthen the long-standing defence relationship between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore, fostering greater cooperation and understanding between the two nations’ armed forces. Working closely together in highly coordinated operations, the OCdts from both countries were able to share knowledge, tactics, and strategies. The shared challenges of urban combat provided a platform for mutual learning, building trust, and enhancing collaboration between the two military schools. Such cooperation is vital for regional stability, as it fosters a spirit of camaraderie and reinforces the strategic military partnership.
Exercise Coyote II and III include the need for adaptability, coordination, and effective communication in urban warfare. The OCdts applied their theoretical knowledge in realistic, high-pressure environments, deepening their understanding of urban operations. The exercise also highlighted the value of joint military training in preparing officers for real-world scenarios, where collaboration between different forces is essential. This experience will be invaluable as they face complex challenges in their future military careers.
