BUKIT AGOK, Thursday, 21 September 2023 – The Land Force Officer Cadets (OCdts) of Intake 22 completed their Final Endeavour Exercise at Bukit Agok, Tutong. The 5-day long exercise introduced the OCdts to Defence Operations which consists of Trench Digging, conducting Patrols and building and holding Main Defensive Areas (MDA).
During the exercise, the OCdts were given command appointments and were challenged through various scenarios to test their leadership and understanding of their responsibilities whilst under pressure. The tough terrain and harsh weather conditions also challenged their mental grit and physical aptitude as the OCdts faced scorching heats during the day and cold wet nights to hold and maintain their defensive.
By the end of the exercise, the OCdts were put to the test as they had to apply all their knowledge on Defensive Operations as their MDA faced a full on assault. The OCdts went through tactical withdrawals, to setting up hasty harbours and planning an attack to take back their MDA. With quick yet careful planning, the OCdts successfully took back their MDA as they coordinated one final platoon assault. The deliberate attack was successful as they utilised their knowledge on the usage of Close Target Recces to find alternate attack routes, and by making full use of their General Purpose Machine Gun to overwhelm the enemy.
This exercise stands as an important stepping stone for the OCdts towards their journey to becoming commissioned Land Force Officers.
