TANAH JAMBU, Wednesday, 08 January 2020 – The Officer Cadet School held a sharing session at the Lecture Theater, OCS Headquarter and present as the Guest of Honor was the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud. Among the attendees were RBAF Chief of Staff, Commandant of Defence Academy, Military Assistant to the Commander of RBAF, Commanding Officer of Officer Cadet School and Officer Cadets of Intake 18.
This sharing session highlighted four main aspects that the Commander values and see as necessary for young military officers to have in order to perform their duties well. These values are professionalism, discipline, welfare, and security awareness. Once commissioned as military officers, it is expected from them to be positive when facing challenges as doing so will allow them to perform better and exceed expectations as they feel less burdened and pressured.
The Officer Cadet School was formed in 2008 and up to this point, it has seen a lot of progress since the first intake. OCS fills in as a stepping stone for young military officers before they set out on their adventure with great responsibilities at their respective units that will considerably be more demanding.
The Commander of RBAF emphasized that young officers must have leadership traits and show others effective leaderships through their conduct and behavior, both at work and in public. Young officers must also be aware of the current issues, regardless of whether it is regional or international, as this will enhance their ability to think logically, critically and analytically. Furthermore, young officers should never be stagnant and must consistently expect to make changes emphasized by the Commander of RBAF.
