TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 27 March 2023 - By the consent of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, 59 Probationary Officer Cadets were appointed as Officer Cadets. The appointment ceremony was held at the Ceremonial Hall of the Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kampong Tanah Jambu.   
Present as the guest of honour and to award the insignias was Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). Also present in the ceremony were officers and staff of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF, the Defence Adviser of Malaysia and the Republic of Singapore in Brunei Darussalam, as well as the parents of the newly appointed Officer Cadets.    
A total of 38 male and 21 female Officer Cadets were selected through the Armed Forces Commissioning Board (AFCB) and reported to the Officer Cadet School on 13 February 2023. They include the two RBAF Scholarship recipients and two international Officer Cadets from Republic of Singapore and Malaysia respectively. Over the past six weeks, the officer cadets underwent basic military training consisting of drills, physical fitness, fieldcraft, weapon handling, battlefield first aid, map reading, leadership and management, and others. The Officer Cadets will now embark on 42 weeks of more rigorous and intensive training to develop them into high-quality officers in leadership, character and academics.    
The ceremony concluded with the recital of Doa by Commander Haji Ainolnizam bin Haji Ibrahim, RBN, Director of the RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT), signing of parchment and a group photo session with the guest of honour.
