– The Officer Cadets (OCdts) of Intake 23 had the distinct privilege of
attending a leadership talk delivered by Yang Mulia Major General Dato
Paduka Seri Haji Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei
Armed Forces (RBAF), at the Lecture Hall of the Officer Cadet School,
Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS DA RBAF).
During the session, the RBAF
Commander emphasized five core values integral to the development of a
military officer: humility, respect, resilience, dignity, and knowledge.
He underscored the importance of these values in shaping effective
leaders within the RBAF, highlighting their role in fostering character
and professionalism among young officers.
The RBAF Commander also
introduced the RBAF leadership model, known as VASTS (Values, Ability,
Style, Traits, and Skills), which outlines the key principles and
attributes essential for cultivating competent and well-rounded military
officers. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of integrating
spirituality into daily life, emphasizing faith in Allah's plan and
resilience in the face of adversity and failure, which serve as vital
components in building strong character.
In his concluding remarks, the
RBAF Commander advised the OCdts to embody discipline and develop the
ability to serve as problem solvers, capable of navigating and
overcoming challenges not only for themselves but also for their
subordinates throughout their careers. The session concluded with the
recitation of a closing Doa.
