
TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 1 February 2024 – A total of 54 young officers of Intake 22 received their certificate and sword for the completion of commissioning course offered in Officer Cadet School Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (OCS DA RBAF).
Present as the Guest of Honour was Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, the Commandant of DA RBAF. Also present were senior officers, officers, International cadet’s family and the newly commissioned officers of intake 22.
The ceremony started with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Al-Anfal verse 55 to 63 by 1647 Lt Awangku Muhamad Akmal Zuhair Bin Pengiran Haji Kamarudzaman followed by the interpretation of the verse.
The ceremony proceeded with an opening speech by 1057 Maj Mohd Raihan bin Haji Borhanuddin, Intake Commander of Intake 22, highlighting the accomplishments of the young officers throughout their training in OCS starting from 13 February 2023 to 1 February 2024. Throughout the course, the young officers undertook several military courses which can help and add value to their skills and capabilities to enhance their personal career development in the RBAF. Intake 22 is the pioneering intake to be given the opportunity to have international cadets, from Malaysia and Singapore, to join the training for the commissioning course. The international cadet will help the young officers to widen their view and to encourage them to be more open minded from learning the different cultures from abroad which in turn can strengthen their leadership skills.
The certificate and sword presentation was followed by the book prize presentation, presented by the Guest of Honour, to the award winners and the top ten cadets of intake 22. The award winners are 1601 Lieutenant Dk Noor Ummiatul Afiqah Binti Pg Zainalabidin (Sword of Honour), 1607 Lieutenant Haziq Zharfan bin Haji awang hasbollah (Best Academic), 1625 Lieutenant Murfiqah Binti Md Zainal Abidin (Best Military Skills), 1639 Lieutenant Ak. Muhd Syahiiruddin bin Pg Haji Tengah (Best Physical Fitness) and newly opened category which is Best international cadet by Lieutenant Muhd Akid bin Ayub.
OCS DA RBAF aims to instil young officers with leadership, character, and intelligence as expected of an RBAF Officer upon first appointment. The training program helps establish young officers as RBAF officers with strong leadership skills that are competent, capable and highly capable problem solvers based on the organisation’s fundamental principles.
