TANAH JAMBU, DEFENCE ACADEMY, Sunday, 4 December 2022 – Officer Cadets of Intake 21 organised and participated in an orienteering competition conducted within the vicinity of Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF). Present as the Guest of Honor was Lt Cdr Muhd Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, RBN, the Intake Commander of Intake 21.

The objectives of the orienteering competition were to strengthen teamwork amongst the Officer Cadets. Additionally, the event allowed the Officer Cadets to experience conducting a formal sport event as they will have an opportunity to conduct similar events at their respective units once they have been commissioned as officers.

A total of 6 sections participated in the competition where they had to accumulate 100 points across 10 checkpoints within an hour. The Orienteering route had the Officer Cadets running to some significant places around the academy such as the stairs to Surau Asy-Syuhada DA RBAF and advance obstacle course area. The first whistle blown at 0630H marked the start of the Orienteering Competition.

The top three winners had accumulated 100 points respectively and the deciding factor for their rankings was the time taken to complete the competition. The 2nd-runner up was from Section 3 (2 Platoon) with timings of 40 minutes and 45 seconds and the 1st-runner up was from Section 6 (3 Platoon) with timings of 36 minutes 29 seconds. The overall champion of the event was from Section 1 (1 Platoon) who completed with just 1 minute and 29 seconds ahead of the 2nd-runner up with a timing of 35 minutes.
