DEFENCE ACADEMY, TANAH JAMBU, 18 April 2022 – An eventful day had commenced with 21 Officer Cadets of Intake 21 being presented with their respective rank insignias in the morning at an appointment ceremony in the Officer Cadet School Mess Hall. These rank insignias which include Cadet Platoon Sergeant, Cadet Corporal and Cadet Lance Corporal were presented by the Guest of Honour, Intake Commander of Officer Cadet School, Lieutenant Commander Muhamad Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, RBN. Also present were Platoon Commanders and Intake Sergeant Major of Officer Cadet School.

The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by the officiating of the rank appointments by the Guest of Honour. Three (3) Officer Cadets were promoted to Cadet Platoon Sergeants, nine (9) were promoted to Cadet Corporals and another nine (9) were promoted to Cadet Lance Corporals. These given appointments hold their own set of duties and responsibilities.

The Cadet Platoon Sergeants typically acknowledge a good performance of the best Officer Cadet in their respective Platoon. The newly promoted Cadet Platoon Sergeants are 54439 MID Haji Muhammad Azli Azhar bin Haji Mohammad Samri, RBN, 22156 OCdt (U) Nadzirah binti Haji Awang Ramli and 54424 OCdt Aedy Aliif bin Haji Zullizam.

The system of Officer Cadet Appointment holders provides another opportunity for the Officer Cadets to be trained in leadership and administration. This is the role entrusted both to the Cadet Corporal and Cadet Lance Corporal.  It enables Officer Cadets to learn and work with the various appointments within the Platoon such as on an administrative plane. The Officer Cadets will be able to gain experience to take responsibility as a leader in performing their duties and making significant impact towards the intake and ultimately to the RBAF.
