TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 04 February 2020 – The Officer Cadet School (OCS) held a Handover Ceremony of Personal Weapon for Intake 20 at Officer Cadet School Headquarters (OCS HQ). The objective of the event was to officially distribute personal weapons and to inculcate sense of responsibility to each of POCdts. Present as the Guest of Honour was 768 Lt Col Pg Siti Khatamalzariah binti Pg Haji Kamaludin, the Commanding Officer of OCS. The event began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah, which was led by 16791 Sgt Haji Mohd Yusri bin Haji Yusoff, Religious Department followed by the handing over of POCdts’ Intake 20 personal weapon.
The event then continued with a speech by the Guest of Honour, where she congratulated the POCdts for making through the selection to become Officer Cadets of Intake 20. She highlighted that by receiving the weapon, Royal Brunei Armed Forces have entrusted them to take care of this valuable military asset. She added that the POCdts have accepted a huge responsibility as military, they are to develop basic soldiering and shooting skills in order to become a competent officer.
To summarise her speech, she emphasised that the training will teach them the importance of security and discipline, both of which are integral in maintaining the image of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Therefore, there will be zero tolerance for negligence as they will be accountable for the security and handling of their own weapons. The Guest of Honour then pledged all POCdts to be more focused and strive for excellence.
She advised each POCdt to maintain a high level of discipline in upholding the core values at all times, regardless whether they are inside or away from the Officer Cadet School. She said that safety must always be a priority and that all POCdts should embrace the importance of safety, which includes personal safety as well as equipment care. Also in attendance at the event was the Intake Commander of OCS, Platoon Commanders, Officers and Instructors of OCS. The event ended with a doa recital to mark the closing of the ceremony.
