TANAH JAMBU, Defence Academy, Saturday 17 October 2020 – The Officer Cadets of Intake 19 of Officer Cadet School (OCS) held the annual debate event at the Lecture Theater, OCS HQ.The event was attended by 895 Maj Pg Haji Mohd Razif bin Pg Haji Mohd Idros, the Second in Command of OCS. In attendance at the event was the Intake Commander of Intake 19, 823 Maj (U) Md Yusra bin Awg Jafar along with Platoon Commanders, Officers and Officer Cadets (OCdts).
The aimed of the event was to develop the OCdt’s confidence in delivering public speaking and to improve their critical thinking, whilst enhance the ability to structure and organize thoughts with regards to the topic given. The topic debated was ‘Does COVID-19 presents challenges or opportunities in terms of military leadership and training?’. In order to promote competition between the OCdts, they were divided into two; the proposition and opposition team which consists of all three-unit services; Land force, Navy and Airforce. Both teams portrayed their best skills in presenting points with confidence and passion. The event ended with open discussion between the debaters with the guest of honour, the officers and the rest of the audiences.
