DEFENCE ACADEMY, Sunday, 28 July 2019 – The Officer Cadets of Intake 18 were scheduled for another round of second adventurous sports training. For this week of week 25, all three Platoons were to go to their respective adventurous sports training on a rotated basis of every two weeks which include horse riding, kayaking and archery.Officer Cadets of 1 Platoon were set off for their kayaking activities which was held at the Serasa RBAF Watermanship Centre. They were taught on the basic procedures of handling kayak. They were also given the opportunity to have some leisure while learning at the same time.
For 2 Platoon, they were set for horse riding activities which was held at the RBAF Saddle Club in Berakas Camp. Like the previous batch of adventurous sports training, they were taught on the basic grooming and horse handling course. From this basic course, Officer cadets are expected to be equipped with basic knowledge on horses and it is hoped that they will further the course once they are commissioned as an Officer. Horse riding is one of the most unique sports and the Officer Cadets of Intake 18 were fortunate that they were exposed to this professional sports at an early stage.
Lastly, the archery activity was attended by 3 Platoon of Intake 18. The archery activity was held at an open ground of Defence Academy, Tanah Jambu. The archery activity was facilitated by Ar Rafi Archery, one of the very first archery professional club in Brunei. Officer Cadets were taught on basic archery where they learned about the equipment, techniques and safety procedures. The Officer Cadets of Intake 18 are given early exposure to these sports in order for them to have leisure activities while in training but at the same time developing professional sportsmanship. These traits are essentials for Officer Cadets especially once they are commissioned as Officers in the RBAF.
