MINDEF BOLKIAH GARISSON, Sunday, 30 June 2019. The Officer Cadet School (OCS) of Intake 18 attended the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) 58th Anniversary celebration. The main event was the grand parade which was participated by units from the Royal Brunei Land Force, Royal Brunei Air Force, Royal Brunei Navy and the “Regimen Pasukan Khas” (RPK) as well as the Women Military Personnel. Another main event awaited by the public was the beret handover of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen which was officiated by His Majesty to signify him as a new member of the Special Force. Following the beret handover event was the Arena performance by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Personnel followed by the static display. The objective for OCS to attend the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Anniversary Celebration was to give a broad understanding and exposure to Officer Cadet about the Royal Brunei Armed Forces identitites, roles and capabilities. The aim was to relate all the theories and practicals they all had learned into practice during the exhibition and static displays.
Meanwhile, some of the Officer Cadets of Intake 18 mainly from the rank holders participated in the Defence Academy Static display. Their task was to explain to the public on any matters regarding on the training course in OCS. This was a great platform for the Officer Cadets to interact with the public in order to provide a brief understanding on the role of OCS in shaping future leaders. This helps Officer Cadets to build their confidence in terms of public speaking and building voice projection. In my opinion, this experience will help Officer Cadets to understand that RBAF officers and personnel have huge responsibilties and duties they will have to commit especially for His Majesty, the Government, country and religion. It is necessary for Officer Cadets to understand that there is no end point in learning throughout their career as an Officer once they are commisioned.
