TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 13 February 2025 – The Signing of BAF 122 for 47 Probationary Officer Cadets of Intake 24, Officer Cadet School (OCS) was held today at the Auditorium of Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kampung Tanah Jambu.
Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah binti Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, graciously attended the event.
Accompanying the arrival was His Highness Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim bin Pengiran Indera Mahkota Pengiran Anak (Dr.) Kemaludin Al-Haj and Yang Mulia Colonel Pengiran Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof, the Commandant of the DA RBAF.
Also in attendance to witness the ceremony were the Defence Advisor, DA RBAF Senior Officers, Officers and the parents of the Probationary Officer Cadets.
The Signing Ceremony commenced with opening remarks by the Commandant of the DA RBAF. In his speech, he emphasized that a Probationary Officer Cadet must possess a high degree of initiative and dynamism, which are essential in overcoming the challenges faced during training, particularly the physically demanding exercises that require peak fitness levels. In addition, he expresses his hope that parents and guardians will place their full trust in the training system and instructors, who are dedicated to nurturing these Probationary Officer Cadets into highly competent and exemplary leaders, committed to serving their organizations and nation.
The ceremony proceeded with an oath by the Probationary Officer Cadets led by 17632 Warrant Officer 2 Mohammad Royzaimee bin Abidin and followed by the signing of the BAF 122. A cohort of 47 Probationary Officer Cadets, comprising of 34 male, 11 female Probationary Officer Cadets along with 2 male International Officer Cadets from Malaysia and Thailand, will undergo 6 weeks of basic military training phase.
The Commissioning Course is a 48 weeks course split into 3 terms consisting of generic term, special-to-service term and final term. This course is designed to develop the Officer Cadets’ leadership, character and intellect in order for them to be ready for their first appointment as RBAF Officer.
