TUTONG, Monday, 7 July 2025 – Officer Cadets (OCdts) of Intake 24 recently undertook a four-day, three-night field training exercise, Second Strike, aimed at developing combat readiness and tactical proficiency in a challenging jungle environment.
Throughout the exercise, OCdts operated in platoon formations and executed a range of tactical drills, including Platoon Battle Drills, the delivery of platoon and section level orders, casualty evacuation (CASEVAC), and harbouring routines. The exercise rigorously tested their endurance, cohesion, and discipline under operational pressure.
As part of the training progression, OCdts were rotated through key leadership and supporting appointments. This exposure provided OCdts with practical experience in command, communication, and coordination at various levels of platoon operations.
Harbouring routines involved the construction and maintenance of concealed defensive positions, a strict perimeter security, and the continuous rotation of sentry duties. OCdts were required to remain vigilant at all times, adapting to field conditions while maintaining operational focus and cohesion.
Discipline remained central to all activities, even in basic routines such as personal hygiene and movement control. The exercise reinforced the importance of resilience, adaptability, and teamwork, all essential attributes of a future leader in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
