BERAKAS, Monday, 30 June 2025 – The Officer Cadet School (OCS) recently marked a major milestone for Intake 24 with the successful completion of the Commanding Officer’s (CO’s) Challenge, a 12 km endurance exercise from Berakas Forest Reserve to Berakas Garrison. Designed to push physical and mental limits, the challenge tested 51 Officer Cadets (OCdts) across nine demanding stations that focused on leadership, planning, decision-making skills, command and control, teamwork, and resilience.
Among all participants, Section 2 of Platoon 1 stood out for their outstanding coordination and team spirit, earning them the top spot in the competition. Their achievement was recognised during a prize presentation ceremony officiated by the Guest of Honour, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Pengiran Haji Muhammad Yusri bin Pengiran Haji Sharifuddin, Commanding Officer of OCS, who also addressed the OCdts with words of encouragement and reflection. In his speech, he highlighted that the completion of the CO’s Challenge marks a significant milestone as OCdts are approaching towards the end of their Generic Term. He emphasised the importance of strengthening teamwork and building greater resilience, key qualities that will be essential in the demanding phases that lie ahead.
More than a test of endurance, the CO’s Challenge serves as a vital training benchmark, preparing OCdts for future leadership assessments such as the Commandant’s and Commander’s Challenges. It also reinforces the essential qualities expected of a future officer, strength in leadership, unity in effort, and clarity in command under pressure.
