TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 9 May, 2025 – Officer Cadets (OCdts) from Intake 24 completed their Range Package training, which began on 21 April 2025 and was conducted across several training sites. The training focused on improving weapon handling skills and building confidence in using military arms.
The first two weeks were centred on the M16A2 rifle. OCdts began with simulation drills before moving on to live firing exercises. They practised grouping, zeroing, various firing positions and night shooting. This phase concluded with the Annual Personal Weapon Test (APWT), a required assessment for all Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel.
In the third week, OCdts trained with support weapons including the M203 Grenade Launcher, the SFG87 hand grenade, the General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), the Heavy Barrel Automatic Rifle (HBAR), and the P226 pistol. These sessions gave OCdts practical experience with a wider range of weapons used in tactical operations.
Safety remained a priority throughout the Range Package. Range Officers conducted safety briefings and weapon handling assessments before each session to make sure protocols were followed.
Completing the Range Package marked a key milestone in the OCdts’ development, equipping them with essential operational skills for future military responsibilities.
