ARMED FORCES SERGEANT MAJOR LEADERSHIP TALK TO OFFICER CADETS OF INTAKE 23


TANAH JAMBU, THURSDAY, 26 December 2024 – Officer Cadets (OCdts) from Intake 23 participated in a Leadership Talk at the Lecture Theatre, Officer Cadet School (OCS) Headquarters, Defence Academy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF). The session was conducted by Warrant Officer 1 Rozain bin Hj Pungut, the Armed Forces Sergeant Major (AFSM) of the RBAF. 

The session commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by an introduction to the AFSM’s extensive career spanning 29 years as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO). Warrant Officer Rozain provided insights into his professional journey and the pivotal experiences that shaped his leadership philosophy. 

Central to the AFSM’s address was the emphasis on influence as a critical leadership trait within the RBAF. He highlighted the necessity for leaders to foster initiative, establish strong interpersonal connections, and build trust and cohesion among their personnel. The OCdts were introduced to practical strategies for overcoming leadership challenges, reinforcing the importance of resilience and adaptability in command roles. 

AFSM underscored the significance of leading by example and maintaining an enduring commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement. He stressed that a leader’s drive to expand their knowledge directly enhances their capacity to lead effectively. At the end of the session, AFSM reiterated the fundamental role of influence, integrity, and personal conduct in shaping successful leaders within the RBAF. This engagement provided invaluable insights to the OCdts, equipping them with foundational leadership principles essential for their future appointments as commissioned officers.
