JUNGLE SURVIVAL LESSON FOR OFFICER CADETS OF INTAKE 23

TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 27 May 2024 – The Officer Cadet School held a Jungle Survival lesson at the Jungle Training Area (JTA) of Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF). The comprehensive lesson initiative aims to develop the officer cadets’ (OCdts) knowledge on techniques of survival and resource-finding skills.

The lesson includes both theory and practical approaches to ensure that the programme is conducive for survival competent cadets. Theoretically, the OCdts were briefed on the skills needed to survive and being able to adapt with jungle environment, such as creating proper shelter and accessories needed in the jungle, choosing the right plants to eat, setting up animal traps, fire making, methods of water-gathering, and cooking. Moreover, the OCdts were also given the opportunity to slaughter and prepare chickens for consumption as part of a simulation being in the jungle survival situation.

This experience ensures that the OCdts are well equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to survive in the harsh environment of the jungle and eventually fruit highly professional, robust and resilient RBAF officers.
