PENANJONG GARRISON, Monday, 28 July 2025 – The Officer Cadets (OCdts) of Intake 24 have successfully completed their Ground Control Exercise at the FIBUA Village within Penanjong Garrison. This comprehensive four-day training involved engaging confrontation scenarios focused on interactions with simulated civilians. Prior to this practical exercise, the OCdts received extensive theoretical lessons from the Engineer Regiment, Royal Brunei Land Force (ER RBLF). They also gained valuable knowledge regarding Operational Law from representatives at the Judge Advocate General Office (JAG). Additionally, instructors from the Officer Cadet School (OCS) provided live demonstrations and hands-on training.
Designed to challenge and stretch their capabilities, the Ground Control Exercise offered a unique combination of tactical education and realistic situations. The cadets practiced crowd control techniques, learning how to assess potential threats through character analysis while executing anti-riot strategies effectively. This experiential learning not only enhanced their urban combat skills but also evaluated their capacity to respond promptly and judiciously under tense ruban environments.
Throughout this rigorous exercise, OCdts were prompted to maximize resource utilization while demonstrating resilience alongside maintaining high morale. They engaged in various stability operations such as Key Point Guarding (KPG), Vehicle Check Points (VCP), patrols, anti-riot measures, and building clearances. This intense experience served as a genuine assessment of their leadership abilities, confidence levels, and preparedness for managing time-sensitive challenges decisively.
