TANAH JAMBU, Friday, 12 March 2021 – The Signing Ceremony of BAF 122 for Intake 20 Officer Cadet School was held today at the Auditorium of Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Kampung Tanah Jambu. Present as the guest of honour was the Acting Commandant of the Defence Academy RBAF, Lieutenant Colonel (U) Azmie Iskandar bin Ariffin. Also in attendance to witness the ceremony were the parents of the Probationary Officer Cadets and Officers of Defence Academy RBAF.The Signing Ceremony started with an opening remark by the guest of honour. Prior to signing the BAF 122, the Probationary Officer Cadets took an oath led by 14905 CPO Alinor bin Hj Awg Marali, Instructor of Officer Cadet School. This year a total number of 83 candidates (53 male and 30 female) have undergone six weeks of basic military training as Probationary Officer Cadets, before they officially commissioned as Officer Cadet of Intake 20.
The Commissioning Course is a 52 weeks course split into three terms, Generic term, Special to Service term and Final term. The course focuses on developing the Officer Cadets’ character, intellect and leadership in order for them to be ready for their first appointment as RBAF Officer. In addition, spiritual development with the concept of Melayu Islam Beraja are also being emphasised. It was reminded by the Acting Commandant, during his speech, that the Probationary Officer Cadets need to be fully committed and resilient for them to complete the physically and mentally demanding course.
